Our High School program

The Milton Choristers are pleased to offer a High School Scholar Program to members of our community secondary schools.

We are looking for mature teenagers with demonstrated musical ability, who want to broaden their musical skills by singing in a Community Choir. If this sounds like you, then the Choristers' Artistic Director invites you to contact info@miltonchoristers.com. We will be accepting one to two scholars per SATB section (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). The benefits to the student include:

  • Receive their 40 hours of community service
  • Membership fee is waived for the scholar
  • An opportunity to sing a challenging SATB repertoire
  • If they are considering the study of music at the University level, their participation in the Choristers' concerts will allow them to see the possibility of a career in many musical fields: as a professional choral singer, an Artistic Director/Conductor, a Collaborative Pianist/Accompanist, or a solo instrumentalist.
  • An opportunity to discuss their musical study options with our Artistic Director and Collaborative Pianist
  • They will be able to add this experience to their applications and resumes.

As well, our Artistic Director would be willing to write letters of reference for scholarships or University applications for scholars who have demonstrated significant musical talent and dedication. The scholar must be willing to commit to the full Chorister musical season (September to June) and to attend once-a-week evening rehearsals. Our season includes two formal performances at public venues, and an additional 3-4 smaller performances at community events (Culture Days, singalongs at Milton Hospital and Nursing/Retirement homes, and Christmas caroling).
