High School Scholar Program

The Milton Choristers are pleased to announce the creation of their new High School Scholar Program.

We are looking for mature teenagers with demonstrated musical ability.  If you fit the bill, Sonja invites you to sign up for an audition.  We will be looking for a minimum of one scholar per section with a maximum of 2 per section.

The benefits to the student include:

• Receive their 40 hours of community service
• Membership fee is waived for the scholar
• They get to sing challenging SATB repetoire
• If they are considering studying music in University, they will see the possibility of a career as a professional choral singer; observe conducting or accompanying as a career and can have time to talk with the staff about these options.
• They will be able to add this experience to their applications and resumes.

As well, Sonja would be quite willing to write letters of reference for scholarships or University applications for scholars who have demonstrated great musical talent and dedication.

The scholar must be willing to commit to the full season and is expected to be punctual and prepared at each rehearsal, with 100% attendance with the exception of absence due to illness or emergency. If they are absent for any other reason they must request permission from the director with no less than 24 hours notice. (This may seem strict, but the vision behind this program is to help these students learn what would be expected of them in a professional situation.)
