• Sonja Dennis

Sonja Dennis completed eight seasons as Artistic Director of the Milton Choristers.  At the end of the 2009-2010 season she left us to take up a teaching position at The University of Western Ontario where she had completed her Masters of Performance and Literature, specializing in choral conducting and studying under Dr. Victoria Meredith and Dr. Gerry Neufeld.

Previously she completed her Bachelor of Music:  Honours Church Music at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo .  In October 2007 Mrs. Dennis was chosen to be the Conducting Fellow with the Canadian Chamber Choir (CCC) working with Dr. Julia Davids while on tour in Ontario .  With the CCC she participated in their first professional recording of the CD which was released in May 2010.  She studied organ with Jan Overdun, voice with Patricia Pascoe and choral conducting with Noel Edison.  She conducted Handel’s oratorio La Resurrezione with the Laurier Baroque Ensemble  and was Assistant Conductor for the Laurier Chapel Choir. 

Although her passion is chorale conducting, Mrs. Dennis has a deep love for singing .  She has studied voice privately with teachers such as Glenn Gardiner, original member of the Canadian Opera Company and Marianne Binding in Toronto .  Mrs,  Dennis continues to appear regularly as a chorister and soloist in various ensembles in South Western Ontario.

Now residing in London Ontario with husband Tony, Mrs. Dennis is the Director of Music at Colborne Street United Church.
